The seventh issue of the nicht jetzt! magazine of the Department Design at HAW Hamburg is entitled Auf der Jagd.  The students dealt with the topic in different ways. 
Even the cover invites the reader to search for clues: The embossed illustration, reminiscent of a camouflage pattern, is darkened by a thermal lacquer and only reveals itself when it gets warm. It changes with the seasons - cold and black in winter, the thicket thins out in summer. Side by side, the editions form a continuous landscape. An endless formula that shows that "the hunt" never ends. After the hunt is before the hunt.

 

Also in this issue, the students from communication design worked intensively with the students from illustration and photography. The image series tell their own stories...

What do we humans hunt for? 
Thematically and design-wise, the magazine focuses on four stages of the hunt: stalk, chase, flight and prey. The stories tell of half a life with a stalker, about the target watering rituals of a German shooting club, let an app-supported prostitute report and deliver impressions of a visit to American relatives who invited to a barrage shooting in the garden. 
Who are you when no one is watching? 
It's about the constant hunt for recognition, about forced individualism with constant comparison. And then there's Cem. He takes the reader to "Osdorfer Born", where his career as a rapper began, on a journey between the need to belong and the desire to make more of himself.

The different stages of the chase are reflected in the layout. The colour space is blown up, images bleed, typography gets into the scope and is snatched as prey.

Instead of the familiar magenta, the magazine provocatively uses the pink neon colour. It transports the energy of attack and danger and also creates an unusual visual language in the mixed colours.
